                   Famous Musical Instrument in Central Asia                                            

Rubab called as "Rabab" in Pashto is like a lute musical instrument originated in from Afghanistan.The name is derived from an Arab word "Rebab" which means "played with the bow" but in Central Asia the instrument is plucked and distinctly different in shapes or cunstruction. Rabab is a national music instrument of Afghanistan. Rabab is mainly used by Pashtun, Tajiks, Kashmiri, Baluch and Iranian Kurdish. Rabab in Afghanistan is known as "the lion of instruments". Elsewhere it is known as the Kabuli rebab. It is the ancestor of the South Asian sarod (anthem). It is mentioned in old Persian books, and many Sufi poets mention it in their poems. It is the traditional instrument of Khorasan and today it is widely used in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, India and Uzbekistan.
